Hiring a disc jockey can be a difficult task. Your goal is
to find someone who will help bring your friends and family
together in an event filled with music and fun!
There are many disc jockeys in the industry and not all dj's
fit the particular needs of every client. Some people prefer
an interactive disc jockey and many prefer a more laid back
style. You want to find a dj who is comfortable with either
style and flexible to accommodate either of these. The reason
being is that not every Pro DJ likes to switch their
particular style so you should ask this question. Are you
comfortable with being laid back OR more interactive?
When hiring a disc jockey, you want to be sure to obtain
more than 4 references because every disc jockey has a
successful event but consistency is very important. When
contacting references ask questions such as:
1. Was the he/she readily available during the planning
process for questions?
2. How early did he/she show up before the event?
3. Did he/she work well with your guests?
4. What positive or negative feedback did you hear back from
your guests?
5. How was the music selection and was the dj open to
requests?
Keep in mind that playing your requests at an event is
important, however programming the entire night is not
always a good idea.
The reason is simple: If you hire a
professional disc jockey and give them an idea of the
demographic which will be at your event, they should play to
your crowd as well as mix in your song requests. There are a
lot of people who hire dj's and want to program all of the
music. This is good and bad. Bad because a disc jockey has
music sets which he/she has experienced over the years which
work and will pack your dance floor. You need to put some
trust into the professional you hire.
We hope you find
a great disc jockey and also have a successful event and thank you for
visiting USADiscJockeys.com!
